I’m thrifty and here’s how to make a DIY humidifier to get rid of damp now the weather’s cold

A DAMP issue at home is common in the winter - largely due to a build up of condensation on the windows.

But while many people turn to dehumidifiers to solve the problem, it turns out there's a much cheaper way to prevent it from reoccurring in the future.

Fenrah Alesari took to TikTok and shared her top tip for anyone who has got a damp house or is renovating their home.

And the best part? It costs just 29p.

In the clip, she begins: "Dehumidifiers are usually the first thing on your list, but instead, you can just use salt and cat litter."

She then goes on to explain how you simply pour some salt in a takeaway box, put your cat litter into an old sock or tights and spread around your "damp-defying monstrosities."

Fenrah captioned the post: "Damp Home ? My mum taught me this trick."

The video has since garnered an impressive 334,000 views and been inundated with comments - with many confirming the hack really does work.
